THE EFFECTS OF POWER AND MONEY

What does money and power have to do with revolutions happening all over the world? Everything because having money empowers most of the world population. It has been this way for eons. We are living in the end of times – but not the end of the world. The end of times is the end to tyranny and enslavement. Even in tough times, we have the power to prosper during these times.

First, a little bit of the scenario – a prelude leading up to these turbulent times. It is as though a Master Planner whose name I do not know, except from hearsay created a Master Plan a few hundred years ago. The United States has not known the wars such as Europe and the Far East have known. We have only had two wars on home turf such as the Revolutionary War and the Civil War unless we want to add the Indian Wars. All other wars have been on other turfs. In a way, we have become insulated and the insulation is coming off now.

WWII was the springboard for major changes and this country became a world power with its secret intelligence agencies that have grown like weeds. A Washington Post investigation article states, "The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work." This is a far cry from our spy agencies prior to WWII such as the Office of Strategic Services (O.S.S.) and the Central Intelligence Agency (
C.I.A.) . The article also stated that there were approximately 934 intelligence (spy) agencies in the U.S. government.

Who do they report to? The head of their agency and it goes up the chain of command. President Eisenhower warned in his farewell speech when he left the presidency to be aware of the industrial/defense complex. "In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."

It was after WWII that the pharmaceutical companies, arms manufacturers and the influx of drugs such as cocaine became large in this country. The use of television began the big marketing business and it programmed the minds of the viewers and consumers. People became addicted to drugs prescribed by physicians and to the illegal drugs. Others were addicted to sports, NASCAR, and thriller movies. These enhance the programming of minds.

There are spy agencies in the corporate world and in a recent article titled, "Why Monsanto Wins," regarding genetically modified foods (GMO) that the FDA approves of is because they plant a spy in the FDA as an employee or a scientist. We have become a spy world.

The Republican Party is showing its ugly head and thrust of power now that the House of Representatives has a Republican majority. If they have their way, we will be thrust back into the dark ages before WWII. An employee will possibly have no benefits and work six days a week. I know. My first job salary was $17 a week and I worked six days a week with no benefits. This was after WWII. The Governor of Wisconsin is using the power to break the unions for power. I applaud the Democrats who fled the state so they would not have to vote, hoping there would be a dialogue, and this goes for Indiana. What are the Republicans going to do when there is almost no incentive for the working person? Are they attempting to kill them off little by little?

Yes, we are seeing the ugly side of power with a capital "P" and M". Power and Money. On the other side, we do have some who have become wealthy and one is Warren Buffett. There is an article about the billionaire (or trillionaire) Warren Buffett. "In an upbeat annual letter to the shareholders of his investment firm, Mr Buffett said he was itching to make more large acquisitions." It goes on to say that he sees an 'upbeat' economy coming. He is a self-made man. In reading his biography, Buffet began as a child buying and selling Coca Cola, chewing gum and magazines. He is noted for his philanthropy and has said that when he dies, he will leave most of his fortune to notable organizations. Someone else who parlayed his talents is Bill Gates. He is also well-known for his philanthropy. There is an old saying, "Give and it shall be given to you." Unfortunately, the majority of corporate world is known for its greed.

Last year a paper was published in the Psychological Science journal. "These effects speak to the power of money, even as a symbol, to change perceptions of very real feelings." This is a quote from University of Minnesota marketing professor and study co-author Kathleen Vohs as reported by msnbc.com. In the paper, there is a reference to emotions having a big effect on money and that when we see money, it can release the endorphins that make us feel better. Why do we women like to shop when we are depressed? Why, we are spending money.

With so many unemployed people in this country as well as in other countries, it is up to us to change our attitudes and develop a taste for having money. Dr. Joseph Murphy, the author of the book, "The Power of the Subconscious Mind," writes: "Poverty is a Mental Disease." He goes on to write: "Knowledge of the power of your subconscious mind is the means to the royal road to riches of all kinds—spiritual, mental or financial. The student of the laws of mind believes and knows definitely that regardless of economic situations, stock market fluctuation, depression, strikes, war, other circumstances, that she/he will always be amply supplied, regardless of what form money takes."

This means that by changing your mind that you change your world. There is a side effect to this. There are beliefs and attitudes that must be done away with such as fear and doubt. Over the years Christianity has conditioned people to think 'money is the root of all evil.' That is a misconception. If you allow these thoughts and emotions to enter your mind, you are taking a step backwards. It takes courage and tenacity to move from 'can't have it,' to 'I can have what I want.' Other emotions and attitudes that hold us back are, greed, jealousy, envy, not forgiving, hatred and disbelief. Yes, anyone can become wealthy. It is the giving that brings happiness and contentment.

Some people cut out pictures of gold and money and put them on a card. Daily they look at this money. The major key to having what you want is your imagination. Everyone has imagination, some have not used it. If you can bring up an image of your bedroom, your kitchen, your house, then you have imagination. This is why pictures are important to look at. It is also important to write down a statement of what you want and be specific. Speak it out loud as often as you can. Look at them as often as you can to instill in your subconscious mind that this is what you want and what you will have.

The story of Cynthia Stafford is one everyone should read about. She was a single mother with five children and she used the methods of Dr. Murphy and in four months she won $112 million from the California Mega-million Lottery. She saw herself winning and the amount she wrote down when she first began focusing on money was $112 million. She had a purpose – an intent. Here is what she has to say, "If you want to do good for others, start now," she says. "Don't wait for the perfect time, because it doesn't exist. Don't wait until you have a certain amount of money in the bank, because giving back is not all about money. You can always give of yourself, your time, your services, your energy, and your talents." If you want to know about her, I suggest you Google her.

Change is not to be feared. Change is growth. Change is evolution. Plant a seed of a desire and nurture it. It will sprout. This is what using the power of the mind can do. Use it wisely and be a giver.

MANIPULATIONS OF THE MIND

What is mind? Very few people understand this question. From a layperson, I will say that our brain is like a sophisticated computer. Whatever we think, feel and accept ideas from outsides sources are put into a data bank and this becomes our mind. It is due to outside sources that the way we believe and the way we think influences us. To understand how our mind can be manipulated, we can go back to the past as recent as the past eight months.

This year has been an interesting year to observe. During the Cheney/Bush years, the Religious Right had its heyday. In researching the Religious Right, I learned that it actually began in the early nineties of the last century when Pat Robertson said at a Christian Coalition meeting, "We are not coming up against just human beings to beat them in elections. We're going to be coming up against spiritual warfare." Spiritual warfare? From my progressive education, spiritual warfare is a misnomer because if it is spiritual, there can be no warfare. In order to re-educate the mind, I would say this is bigoted warfare.

During the these years and continuing through the Cheney/Bush administration, it would appear that these co-called religious people were in a comfort zone because they were fighting abortion, yet happy that this country was at war because it was killing Muslims. This is spiritual? Somehow, I find this a contradiction. If it is wrong to have an abortion, then it should also be wrong to approve of war unless a country is attacked first. Every person has a right to defend his/herself. Could this be a way to build up an army? Meaning, that a woman's job is to bear children so they can grow up to fight and possibly be killed or maimed.

It would appear that the Religious Right infiltrated the Republican Party and it has become the Religious Right/Conservative Party. Craig Berkman, a former chairman of the Republican Party in Oregon is reported to have said this:

"They have acquired a very detailed and accurate understanding of how political parties are organized. Parties are very susceptible to being taken over by ideologues because lower party offices have no appeal to the vast majority of our citizenry. Many precincts are represented by no one. If you decide all of a sudden because it's your Christian duty to become a precinct representative, you only need a few votes to get elected."

This is important: "Many precincts are represented by no one." Few people fully understand the role of a Precinct Chairman Officer is. These people are powerful and if you want to make a difference, become a Precinct Chairman Officer in your state. Search Google for additional information.

It is my understanding that none of these so-call religious people thought that Obama would win the election. The inauguration day was an awesome turning point for this country. Nothing like this had happened before and a black man was sworn in as President of the United States of America.

I sense that these Religious Rights people were reeling from shock and now that President Obama has taken drastic measures to pull the U.S. out of a quagmire of economic woes that began during the Cheney/Bush regime and before, we are seeing the emerging of bigotry and prejudices. The most shocking ones that I have learned about are two pastors of the Baptist sect who declare for everyone to hear that they wish Obama would die. There are the religionists who are fearful of anything President Obama introduces and the real telling point is when they did not want their children to watch the video of Obama speaking to the children of this country. If one were to scratch the surface, one would find the deep-rooted prejudice that he is not a white man. That is spiritual? I asked myself how this mindset came about.

I remember as a child of age four that with my parents' permission that my sister and I were allowed to go to a Wednesday night prayer meeting with next-door neighbors. Nothing had prepared me for this 'holy roller' meeting. I know I was frightened by what the pastor said and then the people went into a frenzy of ecstasy and some fell down and began rolling on the floor. I was scared and ran outside and stayed until the meeting was over. The residue stayed with me for a few years and I was afraid to think of God, because if I did then God would strike me dead. This was a form of mind programming. Later when my family began attending a Methodist Church, I became aware of the hypocrisy I observed and I was turned off of religions.

Religions have kept women in bondage and one only has to research the Mormon sect, Catholic sect, Christian sects and the sects of Islam. An example is the Quiverfull movement, which brainwashes the women to think that their womb is meant to have children and if a woman were to die in childbirth, then that would be okay. If one were to scratch the surface, I think we would learn that whoever created the Quiverfull had a sex problem. When I was growing up, I heard often the saying, "Keep a woman barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen," meaning their place is in the home and to keep them ignorant. We can laugh at this however; there are people who actually have this ignorant mindset. This is one way to program the mind of both men and women and the program is passed on in the form of fear.

For centuries, the majority of the population on this Earth has had their minds manipulated. One might ask 'How?' The major culprits of the manipulations are easy to find by observing the two major religions. What better way to control people than to teach them fear. Using the treatment of women as an example…and this is a big example. Women have been treated as second-class humans and it has only been within the past 100 years that the role of women has been changing. This has been an uphill battle and it is not over yet.

In my years of research, observing and interacting with many women, I learned that most religions use a single God 'out there' who has told the priests, popes, preacher, pastors, etc that the word of God is that women should be submissive to their husbands. Nothing could be further from the truth. These fear messages are actually man messages. An example of this is the use of the word hell. "You will go to hell," is a condemnation for not agreeing with whoever says it. I know a man who was told this and his reply was, "I've already been there and I conquered it;" meaning he had no fear.

The greatest tool to instill fear is to use Satan or the Devil such as "If you do this or that, Satan is in you." Or, "You are condemned to hell or purgatory if you do not follow the dictates of the Church." People have been burned at the stake for not being blind followers of the Catholic Church and many of these people were women who were considered witches. These women had an inner knowingness and used their abilities to heal people. It was fearful to the Church for women to have beneficial abilities that they did not have.

In our modern day, there are other avenues in addition to religions that influence and manipulate the minds such advertisements, television, movies and the medical modalities. One of the current blatant one is "The flu season is here and it is time to get a flu shot." This instills fear in the minds of many people. A side effect of this is that a large number of these people who get flu shots become ill with the flu. Most people are programmed to rely on the medical modality as being the cure-all, when according to Dr. Barbara Starfield of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health; doctors are the third leading cause of death (250,000 per year) after heart disease and cancer.

In the U.S., we have become a nation of fears and it is time for us to take back our own individual power by developing our innate power of discernment. Women are beginning to develop this and to a degree so are some men. Each of us must develop our own path in life and not depend upon religions, television, movies and advertisements to manipulate our minds.

If we do not do our own research, then we become controlled and powerless. Change your mind and you change your world.

EMPOWERMENT versus ABUSE

Within every individual there is a spirit connected to the Source and I call this spirit Genie. If the Genie is kept in the lamp of forgetfulness, this allows for abuse. For most individuals, the Genie was put back into the lamp or the bottle of forgetfulness by religions hundreds of years ago and it has been perpetuated by men who for the most part write history, or his-story.

Eons ago, women and men had a direct connection to their Genie. As religion began its encroachment into various countries, the Genie was put back into the lamp and the people were taught that they had to have an intermediary to the Source. The Source became the God out there in a nebulous place. For hundreds of years religions have taught that man is superior to women and women became chattels, breeding-bitches, and slaves. The divine rights of women were stripped from them. One only has to read scriptures of the various religious texts to realize this. What has been done to women could be called rape of the mind. Ancient history has been stripped of most information regarding women who ruled, contributed to society and were honored as women being equal to men.

Today the abuse of women and children is still rampant. In the arena of war, women and children are raped and women are often sold into slavery as prostitutes. We in the Western world have made some great strides, but there is still the 'good old boy network.' In today's world, little has changed except that special interests have joined religions by seducing the minds of women and men into thinking that sexy is the thing to be. Humanity is treading in a mind field with the individual being blasted with subliminal programming and visuals on the news of war, visuals in films of violence, commercials and ads leading people to think they are ill so they need to take this medication. Is it any wonder that people cannot think for themselves?

All is not lost. An individual can still let the Genie out of the lamp and become free-thinkers instead of one of the herd. As in olden times, one can make a sacrifice and today the sacrifice is to turn off the television and spend time with self. That can be fearful, because the individual will be bombarded with a tape playing in their mind of shoulds and should nots. It takes courage to drop out of the herd and become an individual free-thinker. I know because at age fifty I did this. I share tools that I used to change my thinking - my mind and releasing the Genie within. My latest book Awakening the Genie Within can change a life. It changed mine. In my book I use the symbol above, because I realized that it is really an ancient symbol for the brain. Read my book and learn why.

A WOMAN'S PREROGATIVE TO CHANGE HER MIND

It has only been within the last 100 years since women have made inroads in the realization that a woman has a mind. History has not been kind to women or their intelligence. There are women in history who have left their mark, however they are few and far in between.

What is mind? One could say that mind is an accumulation of knowledge and experiences. Or, some would say it is the level of intelligence. Mind is all of this and how we use our mind determines our level of intelligence. What some may call intelligence could be categorized in levels of intelligence. I will return to this subject later. First, I will share how women have been programmed to think of themselves as lesser beings and how men have been programmed to think they are the superior beings.

Women have for eons been the beings who have been the objects of the most prejudiced of all. It seems as though there has always been prejudice whether it be color, creed, culture or religion. But the one class of the most prejudice has been against women regardless of her color, creed, culture or religion.

It is time now for women to use her prerogative to change her mind. The word prerogative is used without most of us really thinking about its meaning. I grew up saying perogative, however I have since learned that this is a misspelling and a mispronouncing. Somehow I prefer perogative – a personal choice. I have often said over the years when questioned as to why I made a decision to do something different other than what I had first said and my reply was “It’s a woman’s perogative to change her mind.”

According to Dictionary.com, the correct definition is An exclusive right or privilege held by a person or group, especially a hereditary or official right.
We do have the right to change your mind.

MIND AND YOU

Bettye Johnson ©

In addressing a recent statement I read, that we can’t think outside of our brain. I would say that from my research and studies over the years that there is another premise. Our mind is the sum total of our thoughts and words. Scientists and theologians will never have the answer until they change their Flatlander mind-set.

We as humans are not our bodies. There is something much grander driving us – or operating us and that is the spiritual aspect of each individual. Although the word God has been misconstrued and it turns many people off, I will use it for lack of a more efficient word. We are all connected and I realized this many years ago when I received my first ‘aha’ while reading Ruth Montgomery’s book, The World Before. I immediately had a visual picture of our connectedness and it has only been re-enforced over the years.

We each chose to incarnate in a human body to create and to complete unfinished business from other lifetimes. We each were dreaming a dream of living on the lowest level of God, or the Isness, or the All. Some chose to live as the feminine and others as the male. We were given our body with a DNA and the genes of our parents. We were also given a brain.

The brain is the greatest computer ever created and it is under used. Scientists have said we use less than one-percent of our brain. Have you ever wondered about the other 90 percent? I have. Our brain is a sender and a receiver, just as today’s computer is. Using e-mail, we can send and we can receive.

Where do our thoughts come from? Thoughts come from our programming. Our computer brain has a program it operates. We, as the programmer keep running the same program over and over until something within us years for a change. Our program begins with our genes we inherited from our parents. These are triggered by what we came in to complete. Haven’t you noticed that in families how different siblings are? Some select certain genes and others select another set of genes; while they are different, they also share common genes. One child may be inclined to one talent while another demonstrates another talent.

In our programming, we are open-minded when we are first born. The way our parents, relatives and peers interact with us and teach us, adds to our program. We are heavily programmed by religion, schools, politics, the entertainment world, and advertising. When we accept the beliefs of others, we become powerless.

Women over eons have become the most prejudiced against genders. Theirs is a heavy-demeaning programming. Today there are many women who are waking up and realizing that there is much more to them than the old programming. Once the awakening comes, it is as H.R. Halderman once said, you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube once it is out. It is up to each of us to look within and find the jewel of our talent or talents and to utilize them. We are each unique beings with our own signature. We need no stamp of approval outside of our self. We only need our own approval. We can change our minds and our programming by choosing carefully our thoughts and our attitudes. It takes practice over and over until it becomes a different program. The key is to never give up. We have the mind to do it.

How do I know this? I have been on a spiritual journey for nearly 40 years and I attribute my greatest growth to Ramtha the Enlightened One and I have been a student of his for over 18 years. As Sir Francis Bacon wrote: Knowledge is power.
